The following Terms and Conditions apply to the Practice makes perfect competition run between 26th January 2018 and 30th June 2018.
By taking part in this competition you agree to the Terms and Conditions below.
This competition is run by the Chancellor Masters and Scholars of the University of Cambridge acting through its departments Cambridge English Language Assessment at 1 Hills Road, Cambridge, CB1 2EU, UK and Cambridge University Press at University Printing House, Shaftesbury Road, Cambridge, CB2 8BS, UK (collectively ‘Cambridge’).
This competition is open to all teachers using Cambridge’s practice tests.
In order to enter the competition, entrants must leave their name, contact details and their tip on how to make the best use of the practice tests in the classroom in the space provided at cambridge.org/practicemakesperfect. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. Tips should be a maximum of 300 characters in length.
The winner shall choose one prize from the following options:
Apple iPad mini 4, Wi-Fi, 64GB; or
Apple Watch Sport 42mm Aluminium Case & Woven Nylon Band; or
a class set of self-study Testbank codes (up to 40 codes) from the winner’s choice of the following exams: Cambridge English: Key, Cambridge English: Preliminary, Cambridge English: First, Cambridge English: Advanced and IELTS.
All entries must be received by midnight GMT on 30th June 2018. Entries received after this date will not be included in the competition but data may still be used as per these Terms and Conditions.
Entrants must be 18 or over and only one entry per person will be accepted.
The competition winner will be chosen within 4 weeks of the closing date.
One entry will be chosen by Cambridge to receive a prize and the winner will be notified by email. The winner will be chosen based on the creativity and pedagogical value of the tip suggested, as determined by Cambridge at its sole discretion, taking into account, amongst other criteria, feedback from peers on the website. If a winner cannot be contacted within 14 days of the date they are contacted, their prize shall be forfeit and Cambridge will choose a replacement winning entry.
Only winning entries will be contacted.
The winners will be publicly announced via Cambridge’s social media channels.
Cambridge reserves the right to cancel competitions at any time. No notification will be entered into.
Cambridge reserves the right to substitute the prize(s) at any time.
Prize(s) are not transferrable and cannot be exchanged by winners for cash or credit or any other product.
If local delivery of any prize is unavailable or not possible we reserve the right to cancel the winning entry and chose a replacement winning entry.
Cambridge accepts no liability towards the prizes. They are supplied “as is” with no express guarantee as to their suitability.
All competition entries and any accompanying material submitted to Cambridge will become the property of Cambridge on receipt and will not be returned.
By submitting your competition entry and any accompanying material:
A) you warrant and represent that: (i) your competition entry and any accompanying material are original works, are not defamatory and do not infringe the rights (including copyright and other intellectual property rights) of any other person or third party, (ii) there are no conflicting agreements in place that restrict the use and exploitation by Cambridge of your entry and any accompanying material; (iii) you have obtained consent to use any third-party image(s) and material in the entry and rights have been waived for that use and if a third party image or material depicts or originated from a person under 18 years of age, you have obtained parental or guardian consent (and shall provide evidence of the same to Cambridge upon request);
B) you agree to: (i) assign to Cambridge all your intellectual property rights in your competition entry and any accompanying material with full title guarantee; and (ii) waive all moral rights in and to your competition entry and otherwise arising in connection with your entry to which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world;
C) you agree that Cambridge may, but is not required to, use and exploit the content of your entry (and/or materials derived therefrom) in any media, whether now known or invented in the future, in perpetuity worldwide for any promotional or commercial purpose.
By entering the competition you are permitting Cambridge to contact you from time to time with details of other products and services that may be of interest to you in the subject of English Language Teaching. However, Cambridge University Press will only share your data internally with another branches.
Employees of Cambridge English Language Assessment and Cambridge University Press, or their associated companies, and employees of any agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the competition are not eligible to participate.
Cambridge reserves the right to disqualify any entry that it believes, in its sole discretion, to be in breach of these Terms and Conditions
Entry into this competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
Cambridge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England.
